Government Medical College Paderu PROFILE

Government Medical College-Paderu. 

Government Medical College Paderu is situated in a broad picturesque, it falls under the agro-climatic zone of high altitude and with rich flora, fauna and lush green area and valleys with an altitude of over 900 meters above the sea level (MSL) surrounded by the mountains and Hills range of Eastern Ghats of Andhra Pradesh, 110-114 KMs away from the Visakhapatnam District.
The Government medical college and hospital put together with an extent of 35 acres.
The annual initial intake of 50 MBBS seats for the academic year 2024-25.The Medical college has attached to the GGH with 420 bed strength and all broad perspective specialities with above 800 OP (Out Patient) per day. GMC and GGH are providing quality education for students, catering, health care services, to the poor and needy Adivasi tribals by the eminent faculties.
The GMC & GGH have furnished with huge galleries and classrooms and having 4 hostels (Boys hostel, Girl’s hostel, Senior Residency hostel, Interns hostel) and also providing residential quarters for faculty members and
working staff nurses.


Government General Hospital-Paderu


The Government General Hospital is providing Medical and Health services not only to the citizen of this District but also to the neighbouring tribal people belonging to various districts of AP & Orissa. 

Health care is provided under various specialisations like General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Psychiatry, Dermatology, Radiodiagnosis,  Casualty and Emergency Medicine, also specialised clinics for Dental medicine, Animal Bites Clinic, Physiotherapy. Apart from clinical specialty services, many health programs are provided under NHM Non Communicable Diseases, Anti-Retroviral Treatment, De-addiction centre, Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre.

The Government General Hospital (420 capacity) has 2 separate buildings to provide patient care. The main Hospital (320 capacity) is near MPDO office and MCH Hospital(100 capacity) is 1km away from the main hospital.

The District Hospital, Paderu has been upgraded to a Teaching Hospital, Government General Hospital since September 2023.

Dr.D.Hemalatha Devi Principal Government Medical College, Paderu and former Senate and Executive committee member at NTR University of health Sciences. She has three and half years tribal service experience and twenty eight years of teaching experiences in various caders.She has also worked as Prof of OBG at AMC/KGH, Visakhapatnam. She worked as Prof & HOD, OBG at RMC Kakinada.She has also worked as Medical Superintendent at Victoria Government Hospital, Visakhapatnam and Medical Superintendent at Government General Hospital Kakinada. Received several meritorious certificates from district collector Visakhapatnam and Kakinada.She has published various research articals in various state, national,international academic journels. Attended various State and National Conferences and chaired the sessions.Examiner for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Examinations. Life Member of IMA & FOGSI member.

Inspired by the legacy of Andhra Medical College (AMC), our institution is committed to excellence in medical education, clinical training, and translational research.  

As a newly established medical college in a tribal region, we aim to bridge the healthcare gap by focusing on community-centered medicine, tribal healthcare initiatives, and research on indigenous health challenges. Our curriculum integrates modern medical knowledge with early clinical exposure, hands-on training, and a strong emphasis on public health and primary care, ensuring that our graduates are well-equipped to meet the diverse healthcare needs of society.
