Overview
Welcome to GMC Paderu’s patient education hub. This page explains how to prepare for visits and common procedures, visiting rules, maps, and answers to frequently asked questions to make your visit smoother.
1) Before your visit — quick checklist
• Carry: valid photo ID, previous reports, referral (if any), current medicines.
• Fasting: For blood tests or procedures, do not eat or drink for 6–8 hours unless instructed otherwise. (Exact fasting times will be given by your treating team.)
• Registration & Appointment: Book OPD slots via ORS or at the OPD counters. Walk-in patients should arrive 60–90 minutes before OPD close. (See OPD & Appointments.)
2) Pre-procedure checklist
• Bring all medicines and a list of allergies.
• If admitted for surgery: arrange an attendant, bring ID, lab reports, and consent forms signed.
• Follow pre-op instructions provided by your doctor (medication stops, shaving, fasting). Example: routine blood tests, ECG and chest X-ray may be required. (A PDF with detailed pre-op instructions is below.)
3) What to expect on the day (brief)
• On arrival: registration → pre-op assessment / IP admission > procedure area → recovery → discharge.
• Average hospital stay and follow-up instructions will be given by the treating team. Short videos explaining the pre-op holding area and recovery are available below.
4) Visiting hours & rules (concise)
• General visiting hours: 6:00–8:00 AM and 5:00–7:00 PM. (Emergency and ICU visiting rules are stricter.)
• Visitors may be restricted during infectious outbreaks or for specific wards (ICU, NICU). Respect ward staff instructions. (You can adapt hours to GMC Paderu local policy.)
5) Admission & discharge — practical notes
• Admission: bring originals + photocopies of ID and paperwork. If referred, attach referral. Keep attendant mobile number reachable.• Discharge: provisional bill followed by final bill. Collect discharge summary and prescribed medicines; schedule follow-up via ORS if needed. (Short note only — put detailed billing links in Contact & Help or OPD page.)
6) Maps, parking & accessibility
• Simple hospital map showing OPD block, emergency entrance, labs, radiology, main pharmacy and parking. Provide a printable map and wheelchair/porter contact. (Embed a Google Map & upload a high-resolution printable map.)
• Accessibility support: wheelchair assistance and porter services (phone number). (Make the phone visible in a sticky Contact box.)
